In March 2017, 12 Year 2 children took part in the Berkshire School Games at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to take part in a range of sporting activities with a competitive element.
On 29th January 2016, we welcomed GB Sprinter Rion Pierre in to school as part of the Sports for Schools initiative. Rion has been competing since he was 14 and won a Gold medal in the 4x100 Relay at the 7th European Athletics U23 Championships in 2009. Despite injury, he has been working hard and is well on track for competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Rion led a sponsored fitness circuit with all of the children in Foundation 2 and key stage 1, followed-up with a talk and question and answer session. The aim of the event was to inspire the children to take up sport generally but just as importantly, to encourage them to discover and then pursue their passion in life which fits in perfectly with this term's Personal, Social, Health and Educational theme of 'Going for Goals'.
In September 2015, lead community coach John O'Brien of Maidenhead United Football Club, came in to school each week to teach the year 2 children the skills of playing hockey.
